Cairo Governor inaugurates single‑day market to offer commodities at discounted prices

Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber inaugurated the single-day market organized by Cairo Governorate in the Wast Al-Qahira district. The market is a collaborative effort with the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade as part of the single-day markets initiative. The market aims to offer citizens high-quality commodities at discounted prices, up to 20% below other markets.

The governor was accompanied by Dr. Anwar Ahmad Attia El-Adl, Deputy Cairo Governor Dr. Alaa Nagi, Chairman of the Holding Company for Food Industries Abdel Baset Abdel Naim, and the Director of the Cairo Supply Directorate, as well as several senior officials from the governorate and members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Governor Saber inspected the market sections and looked over the food supplies and commodities on display. He also stressed the importance of expanding the establishment of single-day markets across different districts of the capital, adding that such markets help meet citizens’ needs directly, reduce intermediaries, stabilize prices, and ease the burdens on families.

The market featured participation from the Holding Company for Food Industries, the National Service Organization, and the Future of Egypt Authority, as well as several private sector companies, all of which provided a wide variety of food supplies and commodities at competitive prices.

Moreover, Saber stated that the governorate is committed to supporting initiatives aimed at providing essential goods to citizens at affordable prices. He added that single-day markets represent an effective way to make quality products available at reduced prices.
Saber also stated that the governorate continues to coordinate with relevant authorities to monitor markets, ensuring the availability of goods and price stability.

The market includes 30 vendors selling all essential commodities such as oil, sugar, rice, ghee, pasta, detergents, soap, poultry, meat, dairy products, cheese, vegetables, fruits, juices, honey, legumes, and eggs.
