Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber announced that 20 new schools will be added to the education system in the 2026/2027 school year across various districts of the capital. These new schools include new constructions, expansions, additional floors, and partial renovations. This step aligns with the state’s plan to expand school buildings and increase student capacity. It also aims to reduce student density and ensure a safe, supportive learning environment for Cairo’s students.
Governor Saber added that the schools added to the education system this year will comprise a total of 656 classrooms.
Saber further said that preparations for the new academic year also included maintenance and efficiency upgrades for 49 other schools, which will also be integrated into the education system for 2026/2027.
Moreover, Saber also stated that the governorate is consistently monitoring the progress of the school's construction, maintenance, and upgrading in coordination with the General Authority for Educational Buildings and the Cairo Education Directorate. He strongly directed that all works be completed within set timelines.
Saber also further urged to intensify onsite school inspections to ensure buildings, classrooms, restrooms, facilities, and services are ready. This, he added, will guarantee the new academic year begins in the best possible way, providing students with a safe and integrated educational environment that supports excellence and success.
