Banque Misr has launched its new awareness campaign under the slogan “Bayanatak… Khatt Ahmar,” coinciding with Information Security Awareness Month. The campaign aims to raise customer and public awareness of online fraud risks and highlight common methods used by fraudsters to obtain banking and personal data. This comes as part of the bank’s commitment to promoting banking and digital awareness, particularly amid the continued expansion of digital banking services and channels.
The campaign highlights several common forms of online fraud, including messages and links from unknown sources claiming that recipients have won prizes or asking them to update their information, as well as calls impersonating the bank to obtain customers’ banking details. It also emphasizes the importance of keeping banking and personal information confidential, particularly passwords, verification codes, and bank card details. Banque Misr stresses that it never asks customers to share such information by phone, email, or social media.
The “Bayanatak… Khatt Ahmar” campaign provides practical guidelines to enhance protection, including not sharing banking or personal information, avoiding suspicious links and messages, verifying callers’ identities before sharing any information, and reporting attempted fraud. The campaign also encourages customers and the public to share accurate information with family members, friends, and those around them, helping expand awareness and promote a sense of shared responsibility in combating online fraud.
The campaign includes awareness messages across social media platforms and various media outlets to reach the largest possible number of customers and members of the public, enhancing their ability to identify fraudulent attempts and respond to them safely. The campaign reflects Banque Misr’s commitment to continuing its efforts to promote banking and digital awareness and support the safe use of banking services under the message: “Bayanatak… Khatt Ahmar.”
