Under the patronage of Mrs. Entissar El-Sisi, wife of the President of the Republic, the Ministry of Social Solidarity has begun preparations for the second edition of the “Farhet Masr” initiative. The initiative aims to support young men and women from vulnerable groups who are preparing for marriage by providing essential needs for furnishing their marital homes, helping ease their financial burdens and supporting a dignified and stable start to family life.
The initiative is part of the state’s efforts to strengthen social protection, support vulnerable groups, invest in developing Egyptian citizens, and improve their quality of life, in line with the objectives of Egypt’s Vision 2030 to achieve social justice and expand social protection.
The initiative also implements President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to support the stability of Egyptian families and prepare young people to take on the responsibilities of married life by combining social and financial support with psychological and community-based preparation for those preparing for marriage. The “Farhet Masr” platform, affiliated with the Fund for Supporting Projects of Civil Associations and Institutions, continues to receive applications from young men and women preparing for marriage through its electronic platform, according to the approved eligibility criteria and regulations announced on the initiative’s website.
The first edition of the initiative helped facilitate the marriage of 1,000 grooms and 1,000 brides. The second edition aims to support 4,000 grooms and 4,000 brides, for a total of 8,000 beneficiaries from vulnerable families, including beneficiaries of the “Takaful and Karama” cash assistance program, current or former residents of care homes, individuals living with foster families, and eligible persons with disabilities.
Applicants must have entered into a marriage contract or “half-the-wedding ceremony” no more than one year before the application date, and the wedding must not have taken place. It must also be the first marriage for both parties, and neither party may have previously benefited from similar initiatives or received comparable in-kind assistance from the ministry or any other entity. Both parties must be Egyptian citizens and of legal marriageable age. Applications will be subject to verification of eligibility and case assessment in accordance with the initiative’s approved regulations.
