Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, and Eng. Khaled Siddik, Chairman of the Urban Development Fund, attended the distribution of housing contracts to beneficiaries of the “Rawdat El-Sayeda 2” project in the El-Taybi area of Sayeda Zeinab District. The project is part of the state’s efforts to develop informal and unplanned areas, provide safe and adequate housing for citizens, and ensure stability for eligible families. The handover ceremony was also attended by Ashraf Mansour, Deputy Governor for the Southern District, and several senior officials from the governorate.
Dr. Ibrahim Saber stated that the distribution of housing contracts is part of implementing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to provide safe and decent housing, improve quality of life, and continue developing unplanned areas by transforming them into integrated, modern urban communities. These efforts aim to strengthen family and social stability and ensure a dignified life for citizens.
He added that the governorate is committed to completing the contracting and handover procedures in coordination with the Urban Development Fund and relevant authorities, ensuring organized procedures, transparency, and facilitating eligible beneficiaries’ access to their entitlements before moving into their new housing units.
The handover process included the completion of contracts for 386 beneficiaries, of whom 58 chose to receive financial compensation instead of a housing unit, in accordance with the applicable procedures. This arrangement takes beneficiaries’ preferences into account and allows them to benefit from the available alternatives.
The Cairo Governor confirmed that, in coordination with the Urban Development Fund, long-term lease contracts of up to 15 years had been prepared, renewable unless the contractual terms are violated. The contracts also take beneficiaries’ social and economic circumstances into consideration.
Dr. Ibrahim Saber emphasized that the “Rawdat El-Sayeda 2” project continues the state’s efforts to develop unplanned areas and provide safe, modern housing. He noted that urban development projects are not limited to improving the appearance of neighborhoods; they primarily aim to enhance citizens’ quality of life and provide suitable living environments, while ensuring fairness and transparency in allocating housing units to eligible beneficiaries.
The “Rawdat El-Sayeda 2” project extends the redevelopment initiatives in Sayeda Zeinab, which began with the development of the Tal El-Aqarib area and the relocation of its residents to “Rawdat El-Sayeda 1.”
The project aims to provide suitable housing for eligible families as part of the state’s plan to eliminate unplanned areas and achieve sustainable urban development. It includes service facilities, gardens, a community service center, open spaces, and commercial shops. Each residential building consists of a ground floor and five additional floors.
