Minister of Education Signs Cooperation Protocol to Establish School of Applied Technology

The Ministry of Education and Technical Education has signed a cooperation protocol with RATP Dev’s Egyptian subsidiary, RATP Dev Mobility Cairo (RDMC), and the French Development Agency (AFD) to establish an Applied Technology School in Badr City, starting in the 2026/2027 academic year. The school aims to prepare qualified technical professionals to work in the operation and maintenance of modern transport systems and equip students with practical and technical skills that meet labor market needs, drawing on RATP Dev’s expertise in transport operations and maintenance and AFD’s experience in supporting urban transport and development projects in Egypt.

The protocol was signed by Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education; Wadie Bouchaïcha, CEO of RDMC; and Marie-Cécile Thirion, Director of the AFD Cairo Office.

The protocol is part of the government’s efforts to advance technical education and the Ministry’s efforts to develop technical education and vocational training, improve the quality and skill levels of graduates in line with international standards, meet labor market demand for new professions and specializations, and increase employment opportunities for technical school graduates.

Mohamed Abdel Latif expressed his satisfaction with the signing, highlighting the long-standing partnership with France, particularly in technical education, and praising France’s continued support for the development of Egypt’s technical education system.

The new Applied Technology School aims to serve as a distinguished model for technical education in Egypt, drawing on French expertise in education and training and linking them to labor market needs. The school is also intended to reflect French expertise in Egypt, with support from the French side for its establishment and success.

Under the protocol, the school will open in Badr City, Cairo Governorate, in the 2026/2027 academic year. It will operate under the Applied Technology Schools system and international quality standards. The three-year program will award successful third-year students a three-year Technological Baccalaureate, along with an accredited certificate of experience from RDMC or the entity responsible for practical training, upon successfully completing the required practical training periods.
