Health Ministry concludes specialized supply chain management training

The Ministry of Health and Population announced the completion of a specialized training program in supply chain management, with 70 participants across two phases. The program aimed to support relevant personnel and enhance their efficiency and capabilities, contributing to improved operational efficiency and the sustainable availability of medicines and medical supplies. The program was implemented in coordination with the Executive Unit for the Health System Development Project in Egypt and in cooperation with the World Bank.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the program covered specialized topics in planning, procurement, inventory management, and supply chains, combining theoretical and practical components in line with best practices and standards in the field.

He noted that the program was implemented in coordination with Dr. Khaled El-Sokti, Dean of the Faculty of Logistics at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport and a World Bank training consultant. Participants included representatives from the Curative Medicine Sector, including the Medicines and Medical Supplies Chamber, as well as representatives from medical supply warehouses and the Central Administration for Financial and Administrative Affairs. This ensured greater coordination and integration among entities involved in the supply chain system.

The official spokesperson emphasized that the program enhanced the knowledge and skills of personnel working in the pharmaceutical supply system and strengthened their capabilities in planning, procurement, and inventory management. This supports their ability to identify needs, plan procurement operations, and make more accurate and efficient decisions. The program also improved inventory management and strengthened the ability to address challenges related to the availability of medicines and medical supplies and ensure supply continuity, while linking theoretical knowledge with practical application in accordance with relevant best practices.

Dr. Dalia Rashid, Director of the Grants and Loans Department, confirmed that the program strengthened coordination and integration among entities involved in the pharmaceutical supply system. This supports the standardization of supply chain management practices and the use of training outcomes to develop work mechanisms and enhance personnel’s ability to address challenges, thereby improving operational efficiency and ensuring the sustainable availability of medicines and medical supplies.
