Egypt returns to Venice Festival with Seeking Haven for Mr. Rambo
Egyptian film
Seeking Haven for Mr. Rambo will have its world premiere in the official
selection of the 81st Venice International Film Festival (28 August - 7
September 2024), marking the return of Egyptian cinema to Venice after over a
decade of absence.
The film will be
screened within the Orizzonti Extra, a section highlighting the latest trends
in international cinema for young talents.
This is the first
Egyptian film to participate in Venice's official lineup since Ibrahim El
Batout's Winter of Discontent in 2012.
Seeking Haven for Mr.
Rambo is Khaled Mansour's feature-narrative debut after working on numerous
short films screened at international and regional festivals.
Mohammad El-Hosseiny
co-wrote the film with the director.
Seeking Heaven for
Mr. Rambo stars Essam Omar, Rakin Saad, Sama Ibrahim, and Ahmed Bahaa, the
co-founder of the Sharmoofers band in his debut acting role.
The drama film tells
the story of Hassan (Essam Omar), a young man in his thirties who is forced to
confront the fears of his past. He embarks on self-discovery, which includes a
quest to save his dog and best friend Rambo from an unknown fate.
Seeking Haven for Mr.
Rambo is produced by Mohamed Hefzy through Film Clinic and producer Rasha Hosny
in her feature film production debut. Film Clinic Indie Distribution Worldwide
will be responsible for distributing the film.
