Egypt submitted the "Al-Samsimiya"
file to UNESCO for inclusion in the list of intangible heritage in March 2023
and it will be discussed and assessed next June, said the Culture Ministry's
consultant for intangible heritage, Nahla Emam.
This came as part of the State's
keenness on preserving intangible heritage and registering it on the UNESCO's
lists.
In exclusive statements to MENA, Emam said that the file was presented to the
UNESCO in March 2023, adding that the intergovernmental committee will meet in
Paraguay next December to approve the file.
She further said that Egypt’s items
registered on the UNESCO lists of intangible heritage include: Al-Sirah
Al-Hilaliyyah epic, Tahteeb stick game, traditional hand puppetry, handmade
weaving in Upper Egypt, Arabic calligraphy, date palm knowledge, skills,
traditions and practices, festivals related to the journey of the Holy Family
in Egypt and arts skills and practices associated with engraving on metals
(gold, silver and copper).
