Animatex,
Egypt’s largest animation industry event, will take place across numerous
Egyptian cities this September.
Spanning
across Egypt for its fourth edition, Animatex Festival will be open
to visitors in Cairo, Alexandria, Mansoura, Minya and Aswan during the
first 10 days of September.
While
many details have not yet been revealed, the organizers have already
announced several workshops scheduled for 1 and 2 September, with the
American University in Cairo's Tahrir Campus (Tahrir Cultural Center -
TCC) serving as one of the event's main hosts.
The
poster revealed by the TCC indicates that events taking place at the center
from 7-9 September include film screenings, competitions, master classes,
discussions, alongside gaming and VR spaces. The festival will also
provide a networking event for participants.
Last
year's edition of Animatex showcased a plethora of animation works from
Egypt, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and beyond.
The
event included screenings of feature films from Japan, France, Algeria and
Italy, and more than 70 short films from Egypt, the MENA region and the
world.
More
than 15 workshops took place, covering topics such as storyboarding, directing,
character design, 3D modeling & rigging, stop motion, puppet animation,
voice acting and script editing.
Animatex is
Egypt’s largest event dedicated to the art of animation. The
festival was founded in 2020 by Youhana Nassif & Samaka Studio, aiming
to gather animation professionals and enthusiasts together in
one place. Apart from film screenings, talks, workshops and seminars, Animatex
is an important platform for students and professionals to meet, exchange ideas
and discover new opportunities in the field. A
detailed programme for the festival’s fourth edition will be revealed soon.
