Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber visited the
Naguib Mahfouz Museum at Tekiyt Abu El-Dahab in the Gamaleya neighborhood as part of
the state's celebration of Nobel Laureate Naguib Mahfouz under
the slogan "Mahfouz in the Heart."
The governor was
accompanied by Deputy Cairo Governor Ibrahim Abdel Hadi, Assistant Minister of
Culture Hamdi El-Sattouhi, and several students participating in the “Manufacture
and Innovate” exhibition held at the Nasr City Technical School.
During his visit,
Governor Saber said commemorating Naguib Mahfouz reflects the Egyptian's state
belief in the importance of honoring its intellectual and creative icons and
introducing them to new generations.
The museum chronicles
various stages of the life of writer Naguib Mahfouz. It houses his literary and
personal belongings, along with the awards he received both locally and
internationally, most notably the Nobel Prize. The exhibition halls highlight
his upbringing, personal life, and his distinguished literary career.
