Health Min. receives Getinge's CEO, talk join cooperation in healthcare
Deputy
Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar
held a meeting with Dr. Salah Malek, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the
Swedish company Getinge for the Middle East and Africa, and his accompanying
delegation, to discuss ways of joint cooperation in the healthcare sector.
Dr. Hossam Abdel
Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population,
explained that the Minister began the meeting by welcoming the attendees and
then listening to proposals for joint work in the healthcare sector for the
coming period. He emphasized his commitment to strengthening cooperation to
ensure the improvement of healthcare services provided to citizens.
Spokesperson Abdel
Ghaffar added that the meeting discussed ways and mechanisms for joint
cooperation regarding the use of ECMO devices, which are used during delicate
heart and lung surgeries. This cooperation includes providing a total of 27
devices to healthcare facilities in Egypt, in addition to efforts that will be
made to enhance their use to ensure public health support for citizens. He
noted that Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar emphasized the importance of these devices
and their vital value in saving patients' lives.
Moreover, Abdel
Ghaffar pointed out that the meeting discussed the incidence rates of cardiac
diseases requiring surgical intervention, as well as the incidence rates of
acute respiratory distress in Egypt.
The meeting also
reviewed the expected short- and long-term success rates, which would qualify
Egypt as a reference center for the use of ECMO devices.
Abdel Ghaffar noted
that the meeting reviewed the proposed training plan to train and develop the
skills of medical personnel in healthcare facilities to use the devices. It
also included training nursing teams to provide the necessary clinical care and
proper monitoring of patients, as well as training in the necessary nursing
interventions.
The meeting was
attended by Dr. Mohammad El-Tayeb, Deputy Minister; Dr. Anwar Ismail, Assistant
Minister for National Projects and Supervisor of the Central Administration for
Engineering Affairs and Equipment; Dr. Mustafa, Chairman of the Authority of
Hospitals and Educational Institutes; Dr. Ahmed Mustafa, Chairman of the
General Authority for Health Insurance; Dr. Peter Wagih, Head of the
Therapeutic Medicine Sector; and Dr. Maha Ibrahim, Head of the Secretariat of
Specialized Medical Centers.

side, Dr. Essam El-Maraghi, General Manager of Operations, Eng. Mohammad Khedr,
Chairman of the Board of Directors of Techno wave (the Swedish company’s agent
in Egypt), Dr. Mohammad Saad, Director of the Middle East and Africa Region,
and Ashraf Mamdouh, General Manager of Techno wave.
