The Egyptian National Railways Authority announced the discounted subscription system for the 2026/2027 academic year, as part of the authority’s commitment to providing suitable transportation options for students and passengers, and facilitating travel across the various railway lines.
The subscription system includes discounts designated for a number of categories, including university and school students, the general public, and employees according to the approved categories and regulations, with the subscription duration and documents required for issuance specified.
First: Student subscriptions
The authority offers subscriptions for students for periods of 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months, covering: Third-Class Tahya Misr - Third-Class Russian Ventilated - Third-Class Russian Air-Conditioned trains.
The discount granted to students reaches 86.25% of the subscription value, in accordance with the specified regulations.
Requirements for issuing student subscriptions: The authority has specified a number of procedures and required documents, including:
- Obtaining the subscription form from the nearest subscription office for 20 Egyptian pounds.
- Completing the form according to the place of residence and study.
- Having the form stamped with 2 stamps, the first on the photo attached to the form and the second in the margin of the form.
- Providing the national ID card of the legal guardian.
- Writing the telephone number on the back of the form.
- The form must bear the eagle seal from the Ministry of Higher Education or the Ministry of Education, depending on the educational institution.
Second: Public subscriptions
The authority offers subscriptions to the general public for one month, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months, according to the categories and trains specified in the system.
The discount available to the general public reaches 50% on some types of subscriptions, allowing passengers to benefit from reduced prices compared with individual travel tickets.
Requirements for issuing public subscriptions: These are the subscription issuance procedures and include:
- Obtaining a subscription form from the subscription office for 20 Egyptian pounds.
- Completing the information included in the form.
- Providing 2 personal photographs.
- Providing the national ID card.
- Employee subscriptions and other categories.
The subscription system offered by the authority includes other beneficiary categories, including employees, for whom subscriptions are issued according to the nature of the category, the affiliated entity, and the regulations and documents specified by the authority.
The authority emphasized the importance of properly completing the required information and documents when issuing the subscription, to ensure that the procedures are completed correctly and that the applicable discounts can be utilized.
