Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber attended the monthly meeting of the Rotary Club of Cairo. During the meeting, he shared the governorate’s vision and development plan for the capital.
The meeting was chaired by MP Mustafa Megahed, President of the Rotary Club of Cairo, Counselor Mohammad Hassouna, Honorary Secretary of the Club, and Counselor Adel Abdel Baqi, Vice President of the Club.
During the meeting, Governor Saber reviewed the state's efforts to eradicate informal and unsafe settlements and improve citizens' standards of living. Moreover, the Egyptian government has achieved significant progress across several sectors under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, he said. Foremost among these achievements is the redevelopment of informal settlements as the government carried out integrated housing projects. These housing projects have provided safe, decent lives for thousands of families. They also relocated residents from unsafe areas to modern urban communities equipped with essential services.
The governor also discussed the state's ongoing development projects to upgrade infrastructure and road networks and establish upgraded bus stations and markets. He also reviewed efforts to revive historical and heritage sites, boost cooperation with civil society organizations, and implement President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's "Greening Cairo" initiative.
Furthermore, Saber urged the Rotary Club of Cairo to participate in the "Greening Cairo" initiative. He encouraged the club to cooperate with the governorate in planting more trees, expanding green spaces, and utilizing vacant and underutilized land. The initiative efforts would help improve air quality, mitigate environmental impacts, and enhance the capital's urban appearance, he added.
Saber also urged cooperation among civil society institutions, the private sector, and executive authorities to achieve the initiative's objectives.
The Rotary Club of Cairo, established in 1929, is the oldest Rotary club in Egypt. It is affiliated with Rotary District 2451.
