7 February 2026
About

Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber stated that the Hamam Market, located in the Sayeda Aisha neighborhood, will not be removed, as it is one of the historic markets in the area. He added that the ongoing work aims to improve efficiency and organize the area as part of the Historic Cairo Development Project.

Governor Saber also stated that it will remain in its current location, spanning the area from the Sayeda Aisha Bridge to the beginning of the new Salah Salem axis (Hamam Market Street). He emphasized that the development work will not affect any pigeon breeders or vendors who frequent the area, as part of the commitment to preserving the heritage markets that characterize Cairo.

The governor made these remarks during his inspection tour of the area around the Sayeda Aisha Square. He also inspected the ongoing efforts to improve the efficiency of the surroundings along the Salah Salem alternative axis.

Moreover, Saber said the ongoing efforts aim to transform the Sayeda Aisha area into a tourist destination, which connects the Religions Complex, the Magra El-Oyuoun Aqueduct, and the mosques of the Prophet's family. It is also adjacent to the Fustat Hills area.
