21 December 2025
About

As part of his routine field visits to cultural institutions and sites, Minister of Culture Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, accompanied by Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber, conducted a surprise inspection tour of the Ain Helwan Culture Palace. The purpose was to assess the overall condition of the palace, evaluate the quality of services provided to the public, and ensure adherence to the daily workflow.

During the tour, Minister Hanno and Governor Saber inspected the palace's halls and various facilities, noting several areas that require improvement, including cleanliness, employee attendance, and the daily workflow.

Hanno emphasized that these issues must be addressed promptly to deliver decent cultural services to the public. He highlighted that cultural palaces serve as the state's representation in districts and local communities, and any deficiencies in their management or maintenance undermine the cultural role they fulfill.

Hanno further said that unannounced inspection tours would continue to monitor the actual conditions inside cultural sites, and no negligence or shortcomings will be tolerated. He also emphasized full coordination with the Cairo Governorate to immediately commence comprehensive development work on the palace.

Moreover, Minister Hanno has directed the development of an urgent plan to renovate the palace, including improving facilities, rehabilitating the building, and creating cultural and artistic programs to ensure a better experience for the public.

He added that the work will include improving services, reorganizing spaces, and utilizing the garden to host cultural and artistic activities, thereby enhancing the palace's role as a cultural center serving the residents of Helwan and its surrounding suburbs.

For his part, Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber confirmed that the governorate will promptly begin the necessary technical inspections to assess the scope of development work. This includes improving the palace façade, repairing deteriorated walls, and reviewing all required tasks in full coordination with the Ministry of Culture.

Saber emphasized the Governorate's commitment to supporting and developing cultural institutions as centers of cultural and service outreach that contribute to improving the quality of life for the people of Cairo and enhancing public awareness.
