Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber, accompanied by Khaled Fouda, the Advisor to the President for Local Development, conducted an inspection tour to follow up on the ongoing development work of Khedivial Cairo. This project aligns with the directives of the political leadership to promptly revitalize this area, preserving it and restoring its essential role in reflecting the architectural and urban character of the area.
Governor Saber was accompanied by Deputy Cairo Governor Ibrahim Abdel Hadi, Head of the National Organization for Urban Harmony Mohammad Abu Saada, along with several officials of the Cairo governorate and those responsible for the development project.
During his tour, Saber said the Khedivial Cairo development project aims to create a significant transformation in downtown Cairo by enhancing its visual appeal and maximizing its architectural identity. This will be achieved through the preservation of its distinctive building facades, the removal of any distortions that have affected them, and the organization of commercial shop signage in a manner that aligns with the overall character of the area.
Governor Saber also inspected the ongoing development work at Azbakia Park. This project aligns with the state's efforts to restore the unique archaeological features of the Khedive Cairo area, rejuvenate its character, revive its cultural significance, and enhance its appeal as a tourist destination.
Governor Saber also followed up on the restoration of the buildings along Talaat Harb Street, which is part of the third phase of the Khedivial Cairo development project. Currently, work is in progress on 7 out of the 10 targeted buildings in the area, which extends from Tahrir Square to Talaat Harb Square. The tour also included checking the development work in the Borsa area, which is being designated for pedestrian use, as well as the ongoing renovations on Sherif Street and the surrounding streets.
