Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber inspected the construction work carried out by the Cairo Cleaning and Beautification Authority to establish two new parking lots behind the Manara International Conferences Center. The parking lots will accommodate more than 1,200 cars and provide parking spaces for the delegations participating in the 12th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF12), held in Cairo from November 4 to 8.
During his tour, Saber said these activities are part of the governorate’s preparations to welcome the international guests participating in the urban forum and provide logistical support for the forum's events.
Saber also emphasized that there is a follow-up on the various arrangements underway for hosting the forum around the clock, particularly regarding transportation, infrastructure, organizing visits, and coordinating the work of volunteers.
Moreover, Saber asserted the governorate’s commitment to organizing this forum in a manner befitting Egypt and its regional and international position, given it is the second largest UN event on the United Nations agenda after the Climate Summit and the most significant global event concerning urbanization and inclusive urban development for all.
Saber added that all governorate bodies are working diligently and integrally with all the ministries and relevant authorities to organize this massive event.
Furthermore, Saber also inspected the ongoing development work implemented by the Cairo Cleaning Authority to improve the gardens surrounding the Manara Center.
For his part, the Head of the Cairo Cleaning and Beautification Authority, Ehab El-Shershaby, said the authority has completed leveling and grading the ground in the parking areas and has surrounded them with a tree fence. He added that the authority is installing a metal fence to secure the vehicles within the parking area.
The governor was accompanied by Deputy Cairo Governor Mona Batrawy, Head of the Cairo Cleaning and Beautification Authority Ehab El-Shershaby, and several officials of the Cairo governorate.
