Cairo Gov., Culture Min. distributes Photography Competition Awards
Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber and Minister of Culture Dr. Jihan Zaki attended the award ceremony for the 7th Heritage Photography Competition and the inauguration of the "Hekayat El-Makan" exhibition at the Palace of Arts, located in the Egyptian Opera House Plaza. The event was also attended by Mohammad Abu Saada, Chairman of the National Organization for Urban Harmony.
Governor Saber stated that this event,
which unites us in the realms of art, beauty, and identity, holds special
significance as it marks the award ceremony of the seventh edition of the
"Heritage" Photography Competition and the inauguration of the
"Hekayat El-Makan" exhibition. This event represents a fruitful
collaboration between the National Organization for Urban Harmony and the Flog
photography platform, grounded in a shared vision that believes images can
convey powerful messages and that art is a means of preserving national memory.
Saber added that the visual arts,
especially photography, have become one of the most important means of
documenting the spirit of a place, highlighting its features, and conveying its
details to future generations.
Moreover, Saber stated that Cairo,
giving its position as the beating heart of Egypt and its unique architectural,
cultural, and human heritage, remains one of the greatest cities that narrates
the history of an entire nation. It is not merely a city but an open record of
successive civilizations and a venue for creativity. It is also a living memory
that preserves the features of authentic Egyptian identity within its old
neighborhoods and ancient streets.
Therefore, in our vision, we focus on
two main pillars: preserving and restoring heritage along with promoting
sustainability and development. Saber also praised the efforts of the Ministry
of Culture and the National Organization for Urban Harmony in instilling the
concept that protecting heritage is a shared societal responsibility, where the
efforts of the state are integrated with the energy of creators and youth.
Saber further stated that these
cultural initiatives convey an important message, emphasizing that true
development is inseparable from awareness and that building the individual is
just as important as developing the place. Nations that recognize the value of
their history and preserve their memory are best equipped to shape their future
with confidence and a clear vision. He added that the distinguished artistic
works we are witnessing today reflect the growing awareness among a new
generation of photographers and artists.
Saber also wished the competition
continued success and excellence, expressing hope that art will always remain
one of the bridges connecting us to our roots and granting us the ability to
see our countries with greater awareness and a stronger sense of belonging.
