Cairo Gov. announces trial operation of Salah Salem alternative axis
Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber announced the
commencement of the trial operation of the Salah Salem alternative road axis,
executed by the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces in cooperation with
the Cairo Governorate. The axis spans approximately 3 km, extending from Al-Qalaa to Al-Fustat. This initiative is part of the state's efforts to
develop the Sayeda Aisha area, address traffic problems, and improve traffic
flow in preparation for dismantling and removing the Sayeda Aisha Bridge.
The new road axis, extending from Al-Azhar Park toward Salah Salem,
serves three exits: the first leads to Souq Al-Hammam and then the Sayeda
Aisha; the second connects to the Hadara Road Axis; and the third provides
access to the Abatal Club and subsequently to Masr El-Qadima.
Regarding the route from Masr Al-Qadima and the Hadara Road Axis, there
is an exit to the Imam Al-Shafi'i Tunnel and an exit to Al-Khalla Street in Al-Tunisi , which leads to the Autostrad Road. Additionally, there is an
exit to Al-Abagia, which continues along the same road and reconnects to Salah
Salem.
The Cairo Governorate announced a limited tender for the execution of
dismantling and selling the components of the Sayeda Aisha Bridge, located in
the Khalifa district, to complete the new Salah Salem Road Axis.
The tender will be conducted among specialized and leading companies in
such works on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the Cairo Police Club in Abdeen, to
select the best companies capable of dismantling the bridge safely, according
to tender specifications available at the
Citizen Service Technological Center at the governorate's headquarters.
