Cairo Gov., Youth Min. attends laying cornerstone of ‘Qudaat Misr’ Mosque

Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber and Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Ashraf Sobhi attended a ceremony to lay the foundation stone for the first mosque dedicated to the judges of Egypt, named the “Qudaat Misr” Mosque. The mosque will cover 5,600 square meters and will include a cultural center showcasing the role of the Egyptian judiciary, its values, and the message of justice throughout history, as well as a community venue.

The event was held under the auspices of Judge Assem El-Ghayesh, President of the Court of Cassation and President of the Supreme Judicial Council, and Counselor Tarek Abu Zaid, representing the Public Prosecutor. It was also attended by Counselor Mohammad El-Shennawi, Head of the Administrative Prosecution Authority; Professor Dr. Mohammad Bayoumi, Secretary-General of Islamic Affairs, on behalf of the Minister of Endowments; Professor Dr. Mohammad El-Gendy, Secretary-General of the Islamic Research Academy, representing the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar; Judge Mohammad Abdel Aal, First Deputy of the Court of Cassation and Member of the Supreme Judicial Council; and Dr. Ahmed Karima, Professor of Islamic Law at Al-Azhar University. The international Quran reciter Mahmoud El-Shahat Anwar was also present, along with several judicial and executive leaders.

During the ceremony, Governor Saber stressed the significance of this project, highlighting that it represents a civilizational, religious, and cultural contribution to the capital. He added that it helps promote awareness of religious values and reinforces the principles of justice and belonging. He also noted the governorate's commitment to supporting initiatives that serve the community and preserve the authentic Egyptian identity.

During his speech, Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Ashraf Sobhi affirmed that laying the cornerstone of the “Qudaat Misr” Mosque symbolizes the value of the Egyptian judiciary and its steadfast role in building the modern state. It reflects the integration of state institutions in supporting projects that combine religious, cultural, and educational dimensions. He emphasized that the mosque, with its cultural and religious museum, conveys a civilizational message affirming that justice and noble human values have been and will continue to be fundamental pillars in the nation's journey. He added that the project is a significant contribution to Egyptian society, highlighting the commitment to strengthening national identity and reinforcing the values of justice and the rule of law. He also praised the national role of the South Sinai Judges Club in launching this distinguished initiative.

On the other hand, Counselor Assem El-Ghayesh, President of the Court of Cassation and President of the Supreme Judicial Council, stated that the mosque represents a significant step toward documenting the Egyptian judicial legacy and highlighting the national role of judges throughout history. The accompanying cultural and religious museum, he added, showcases the message of justice and the principles that form the foundation of the Egyptian judiciary. He emphasized that such initiatives enhance societal awareness of national values and strengthen the judiciary's role in protecting citizens' rights, safeguarding the state, and achieving justice.

It is worth mentioning that the South Sinai Judges Club is the original right holder of this event, represented by Counselor Arafa Darei’, Vice President of the Court of Cassation and President of the Club; Counselor Sameh Abdel Wahab, Secretary-General of the Club; and the members of the Club's Board of Directors: Judge Adel El-Shazli, President of the Cairo Criminal Court; Judge Basem El-Desouki, President of the Court of Appeal; Judge Ahmed Salama Afifi, President of the Court; and Judge Fadi Shaker, President of the Court. The project comes within the framework of supporting initiatives that enhance cultural and religious awareness and highlight the historical role of the Egyptian judiciary.
