Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber announced the allocation of a 2,800-square-meter plot of land east of Autostrad Road in the Tebbin neighborhood to establish a shelter for stray dogs. This initiative aims to ensure public safety while upholding the principles of animal welfare.
Governor Saber stated that the shelter will be managed scientifically, based on the principle that animal welfare is a fundamental element in maintaining environmental balance. This effort will be carried out in cooperation with the General Authority for Veterinary Services and the Cairo Directorate of Veterinary Medicine. Collaboration will also extend to associations and private shelters to exchange expertise and achieve the best possible outcomes.
Moreover, Saber stated that the shelter will provide medical services through a team of specialized veterinarians. The shelter will also include designated areas for dog care. Additionally, a dog adoption service will be available after ensuring that the dogs are disease-free and have received the necessary vaccinations.
