Cairo
Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber, accompanied by Presidential Advisor for Local
Development and Chairman of the Cairo Heritage Development Committee (CHDC)
Dr. Khaled Fouda, inspected the renovation and development work at the Sultan
Abul Ela Mosque, located in the Boulaq Abul Ela district. This renovation is
part of the government's efforts to preserve archaeological sites and regain
the former significance and tourism appeal of historic Cairo.
The governor was
accompanied by Deputy Cairo Governor Ibrahim Abdel Hadi, Assistant Advisor to
the President for Urban Planning Amr Abdel Moneim, Assistant Advisor to the President
for Local Development Dr. Abdullah Al-Sherif, representatives from the
Ministries of Endowment and Antiquities, and several officials from the Cairo
Governorate.
The tour of Governor
Saber and Presidential Advisor Fouda is part of a continuous effort to monitor
the project's execution rates, advance its progress while addressing any
obstacles, and adhere to the established timelines.
The Ministry of
Antiquities, in collaboration with the Ministry of Endowments, is undertaking
restoration efforts to return the mosque, established in 890 AH (1485 AD), to
its original condition and ensure its preservation. The mosque houses the
shrine of Al-Hussein Abu Ali, also known as Sultan Abul Ela, whose lineage is
traced back to Imam Hussein.
