Ministers of Supply, Local Development, Cairo Gov. inaugurate several projects
Minister of Supply and Internal
Trade, Dr. Sherif Farouk; Minister of Local Development, Dr. Manal Awad; and
Cairo Governor, Dr. Ibrahim Saber, conducted an extensive inspection tour of
Cairo.
During
their tour, Ministers Farouk and Awad, along with Governor Saber, inaugurated
several projects and initiatives to enhance the quality of supply services and
support citizens. This effort aligns with the directives of President Abdel
Fattah El-Sisi and the assignments of Dr. Mustafa Madbouli, the Prime Minister.
The
ministers and the governor inaugurated the "One-Day Market," a
pioneering initiative designed to provide essential goods at competitive prices
while bolstering support for local producers.
Minister
Farouk emphasized that the market represents a significant step toward
achieving balance by reducing price manipulation, creating job opportunities
for youth, and improving the living standards of citizens, particularly in the
most disadvantaged areas. He added that the ministry aims to expand this
initiative throughout Egypt to ensure that services and goods are accessible to
all segments of society.
Moreover,
the ministers and the governor inaugurated the "Citizen First" outlet
next to the palace of Omar Toson Pasha. This initiative represents an effective
solution for providing high-quality essential goods at affordable prices,
reflecting the state's vision to support the most vulnerable groups and ensure
social justice.
The
Minister of Supply stated that the opening of this outlet aligns with the
directives of the political leadership to expand supply outlets for the benefit
of citizens.
The
tour also included the inauguration of three citizen service centers: the Rod
El-Farag Center, which spans an area of 145 square meters and is equipped with
the latest technologies to provide food supply services efficiently; the
El-Salam Awal Center, located in the Atlas buildings and featuring six service
windows for citizens; and the El-Marg Center, the largest of the three, built
on an area of 300 square meters next to the Al-Andalus Youth Center, which
includes eight service windows to reduce congestion and enhance service
delivery.
Farouk also
confirmed that these centers align with the ministry's strategy to enhance the
supply services system across all governorates, thereby contributing to the
improvement of citizens' daily quality of life.
During the tour, the
ministers of supply and local development were eager to engage with citizens,
listening to their opinions and suggestions while learning about the challenges
they face. They emphasized that their presence in the streets demonstrates the
state's commitment to directly addressing the needs of citizens and ensuring
that services are delivered to those entitled to them with quality and
efficiency.
Dr. Manal Awad, the
Minister of Local Development, praised the One-Day Market model currently being
implemented across all governorates. This initiative is a collaboration between
the Ministry of Local Development and the Ministry of Supply and Internal
Trade, along with their affiliated companies, led by the Holding Company for
Food Industries and private sector enterprises. The goal is to provide a
variety of essential goods to citizens at affordable prices.
Awad also expressed
her gratitude to the Minister of Supply for this commendable initiative, as it
serves as a successful model for providing goods at reasonable prices. The
government has commenced the expansion of this initiative across various
governorates under the directives of Dr. Mustafa Madbouli, the Prime Minister.
Furthermore, Awad
emphasized the government's commitment to supporting all goods at reduced
prices in line with the state's endeavors and President Sisi's directives to
alleviate the burdens on citizens and ensure the availability of essential
goods at wholesale prices while also combating monopolistic practices in food
commodities.
Awad confirmed that these projects and
initiatives exemplify a successful model of cooperation among ministries. She
praised the efforts of the Ministry of Supply in supporting the most vulnerable
groups and providing essential goods at affordable prices.
Meanwhile, Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber
announced that the one-day market in the Gamaleya area is the fifth market in
the capital and will operate every Sunday. Additionally, there is a market in
Al Rashdan, Nasr City; another in Helwan; and a third in Al-Amireya, all of
which operate on Fridays. In contrast, the Ain Shams market is open every
Saturday.
Saber added that the concept of the one-day
market is based on increasing the supply of goods and reducing prices, pointing
out that all executive bodies are working to implement the directives of
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to alleviate the burden on citizens, provide goods
at affordable prices, and offer various forms of support to them.
Moreover, Saber noted that one-day markets
have contributed to making citizens partners and monitors of the markets by
comparing the discounts offered by the market with the prices of goods in
different areas.
Saber also emphasized the governorate's
commitment to expanding the establishment of additional outlets and fairs for
goods throughout Cairo, as well as mobile outlets, particularly in the neediest
areas. He noted that the executive bodies are conducting intensive campaigns
across all neighborhoods of Cairo. These campaigns aim to ensure the
availability of a variety of goods in sufficient quantities and at affordable
prices, regulate the markets, combat commercial fraud and price manipulation,
and address attempts by some traders to monopolize essential goods.
Saber also stated that there are 18 citizen
service centers offering supply services in the capital. He added that the
three centers inaugurated today represent a new addition as part of Cairo's
plan to enhance the quality of services provided to citizens in all
neighborhoods, especially in the most vulnerable areas.
This is achieved through the establishment of
exemplary citizen service centers that offer supply services to citizens in an
easy and accessible manner, ensuring a separation between the service provider
and the recipient, promoting transparency, as well as expediting transactions
and facilitating service delivery through a single window while maintaining
civilized and swift communication with citizens.
Saber stated that this modern model of supply
service centers will be implemented throughout Cairo, the capital, to provide
several services. These efforts are part of the state's plan to achieve
sustainable development and alleviate the burdens on citizens, in line with the
political leadership's vision to improve the living standards of the Egyptian
citizen.
