Agriculture Min., Cairo Gov. inaugurate Bab Shaaria food exhibition
About

8 february 2026

Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouq and Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber inaugurated an exhibition of goods and food products at Bab El-Shaaria Square to offer commodities to citizens at affordable prices ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.

During the inauguration, Minister Farouq stated that holding such exhibitions exemplifies a successful model of cooperation between state institutions, represented by the Ministries of Agriculture and Supply, in coordination with the Governors. This collaboration contributes to providing essential commodities at reasonable prices and high quality, aligning with the state's efforts to reduce prices, supply goods to citizens, and alleviate their financial burden.

Farouk added that the Ministry of Agriculture currently operates approximately 600 fixed and mobile outlets located in Dokki, the Agricultural Research Center in Giza, various research stations, and the directorates of agriculture and agricultural reform across all governorates. The goal is to expand this network to 1,000 outlets nationwide. These outlets provide goods and food products to citizens at reduced prices by minimizing intermediaries and offering products directly from the farm to the exhibition or outlet.

Moreover, Farouk emphasized the importance of mobile outlets reaching popular locations, public squares, and remote areas to ensure the delivery of goods to citizens, alleviate their burdens, and provide various products, such as table eggs, poultry, and meat, at affordable prices.

For his part, Governor Saber stated that the opening of these exhibitions is part of the state's efforts to provide food commodities at reasonable prices for citizens and to ease their burdens during the holy month of Ramadan.

He added that the governorate is working to expand the establishment of exhibitions and outlets that offer goods at affordable prices throughout Cairo, especially in the areas most in need.

Furthermore, Saber stated that efforts would continue to monitor markets during Ramadan and to address any attempts to manipulate prices or monopolize goods.

Saber also urged citizens to report any observed violations, emphasizing the commitment to clearly display commodity prices and to show prices for each food product separately at outlets.

The Ministry of Agriculture is offering a wide range of products in the exhibition, including legumes, ghee, honey, olive oil, Ramadan yamish, meat, and poultry. Additionally, several private sector companies are offering commodities at discounted prices.
