27 July 2025

Dr. Ibrahim Saber, the Governor of Cairo, inaugurated the development work at Khamsin Square in the Maadi neighborhood. The project was completed in collaboration with civil society organizations as part of a community participation initiative.

Governor Saber asserted the governorate's commitment to expanding green spaces while preserving existing ones to improve air quality and enhance citizens’ quality of life, considering this a top priority of the Egyptian state.

Furthermore, Saber commended the role of civil society organizations, stressing that they are active partners in the development taking place in Cairo. He highlighted that the foundation of success in local administration lies in the ability to foster cooperation between executive bodies and civil society.

Khamsin Square is a roundabout covering approximately 8,000 m², situated between the Maadi and Basateen districts.

The development work carried out by a civil society organization, in cooperation with Cairo's General Authority for Cleaning, Beautification, and Lighting, included the construction of walkways, the planting of approximately 70,000 plants, seedlings, and trees, as well as the installation of decorative columns around the square.

The governor was accompanied by Deputy Cairo Governor Ashraf Mansour, several officials from the Cairo governorate, and representatives of civil society from the Maadi neighborhood and surrounding districts.
