Cairo Gov. attends ‘Energy Transition and Sustainable Development’ Conference

Under the patronage of
Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouli, Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber attended
the opening session of the eighth edition of the conference organized by the
Ahram Foundation for Energy and titled "Energy Transition and Sustainable Development:
Challenges and Hopes."
The event was attended
by Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy,
representing the Premier; Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral
Resources; Mohammad Al-Shimi, Minister of Public Business Sector; Mohammad
Abdel Sadiq El-Shorbagi, Chairman of the National Press Authority; and Dr.
Mohammad Fayez Farhat, Chairman of the Ahram Foundation and President of the
Conference. Additionally, several former ministers, governors, university
presidents, and officials and leaders from energy authorities and companies
participated, along with representatives from the public business sector.
Following the opening
session, a special session will be conducted to discuss the vision of the
Ministries of Petroleum and Public Business concerning the energy transition.
The second session will
review the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy's strategy, mechanisms
for energy transition, and the achievement of sustainable development.
The conference will also
explore the roles of both the public and private sectors in facilitating the
energy transition. A special session will feature in-depth discussions on the
insurance sector's support for the energy industry, with participation from
experts, representatives of insurance and energy companies, as well as
university professors and researchers from various universities and research
centers.
The conference will also
address attracting direct investment in the energy sector, policies for
achieving sustainability and environmental protection, mechanisms for energy
transition in its various forms and fields, and the regulatory frameworks and
green certifications for hydrogen projects. Additionally, it will explore the
role of the private sector in supporting the development of hydrogen projects
and energy efficiency programs as vital components of sustainable development.
The discussion will also include incentives, guarantees, and legislation
related to energy transition.
