Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber inspected the ongoing work of the Madinet Al-Amal El-Gadidah Rehousing and Development Project, previously known as “Ezbet Al-Haggana,” in Sharq Madinet Nasr district.
During his tour, Saber said Madinet Al-Amal El-Gadidah, planned to be constructed on 10 acres, will be a model for upgrading informal areas. The project will include residential buildings with all necessary services and utilities.
Saber added that Madinet Al-Amal’s planning and development efforts aim to implement a comprehensive project for citizens, providing them with a decent life as part of the state's plan to develop informal settlements.
Saber also noted that there has been contact with citizens to learn their opinions and understand their demands before beginning the demolition work, whether to receive financial compensation for those who wish it or to return to the area after the development.
The inventory work for establishing Madinet Al-Amal El-Gadidah in what was previously known as Ezbet Al-Haggana included 232 buildings, 1,166 residential units, 224 shops and warehouses, and 23 plots of vacant land. The price per square meter for residential areas has been estimated at 5,000 Egyptian pounds. Residents who wish to return will be provided with a rental allowance of approximately 30,000 Egyptian pounds until the completion of the project.
The governor was accompanied by Deputy Cairo Governor Mona El-Batrawy, Assistant Secretary-General Yahia Al-Adghm, Chief of Sharq Madinet Nasr District Ahmad Gouda, and several officials of Cairo governorate.
