Cairo gov. visits Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria

Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber visited Pope Tawadros II, pope of Alexandria and patriarch of the see of St. Mark, at the Papal headquarters in the Abbasia neighborhood.

 The governor was accompanied by Deputy Governors Ibrahim Abdel Hady, Hossam El-Din Fawzy, Mona El-Batrawy, Ashraf Mansour, Assistant Secretary-General Yahia Adghm, and several officials of Cairo governorate.     

During his visit, Saber expressed his happiness at meeting Pope Tawadros II, asserting his keenness to visit the papal headquarters as part of the warmth and affection binding him to His Holiness the Pope.

Saber also highlighted everyone's commitment to working hand in hand to achieve the advancement and progress of our beloved country, adding that the unity of the Egyptian people is the fundamental pillar for the state's revival and development.

Moreover, Saber affirmed that Pope Tawadros is a patriotic man, and his saying, "A homeland without churches is better than churches without a homeland," will remain a model of a first-class statesman who understands how to protect his country.

For his part, Pope Tawadros welcomed the Cairo governor and his accompanying delegation, noting that that visit marks the first time a governor of Cairo city visited the papal headquarters since taking office.

He congratulated the governor on the confidence of the political leadership and wished him success in his duties.
