Fifth edition of international water technology exhibition ,Conference kicks off today

The fifth edition of the International Exhibition and Conference for Water Technology, Wastewater, Desalination, Reuse, Waste Treatment and Recycling kicks off today, Monday, and will run until October 28, 2026, at the Cairo International Conference Center in Nasr City. The event is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities and organized by Expotec Egypt, with the participation of its affiliated entities. The exhibition and conference serve as an integrated international platform bringing together decision-makers, experts, global companies, and research and financing institutions to showcase the latest innovations and explore investment and cooperation opportunities.

Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, emphasized that the state considers the drinking water and wastewater sector a strategic priority and a cornerstone of modern, sustainable infrastructure that supports economic and social development while addressing the challenges of climate change and population growth. She explained that the ministry’s strategy focuses on expanding seawater desalination projects, advanced wastewater treatment, water reuse, and waste recycling, alongside developing an integrated system based on digital transformation, artificial intelligence applications, energy efficiency, and asset management. These efforts aim to optimize investment and reduce operating costs in line with Egypt Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Minister of Housing stressed that localizing the manufacturing of electromechanical equipment, machinery, and specialized technologies is among the ministry’s top priorities. This will be pursued through partnerships between international companies and Egyptian manufacturers and the transfer of technical expertise to strengthen domestic industry, reduce reliance on imports, and open new export opportunities. She also affirmed that hosting this event reinforces Egypt’s position as a leading regional hub for water technology and knowledge transfer to Arab and African countries, making investment in this vital sector a direct investment in the future of development, public health, and quality of life.

The event reflects Egypt’s integrated national efforts to modernize public utilities, particularly through major presidential initiatives and national projects to expand water desalination plants and advanced treatment facilities. This strategic direction contributes to strengthening water security, optimizing resource use, and addressing water-related and climate change challenges. It also creates promising opportunities for the private sector and international companies to participate actively in shaping the future of water technology and sustainable investment in Egypt and the wider region.
