Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber stated that Cairo Governorate's executive plan following President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives concerning the "Greening Cairo" initiative will contribute to improving the urban environment, increasing per capita green space, and reducing pollution. It will also boost oxygen production and promote ecological balance. He added that the vision is not limited to increasing the number of trees and green areas, but it aims to create an integrated system for tree planting and urban landscaping based on scientific planning, careful selection of plant species, and their adaptation to Egypt’s climate and environmental context.
Governor Saber added that the plan also integrates efficient water management, reduces long-term operation and maintenance expenses, and converts vacant and underused areas. This will ensure the sustainability of greening efforts and maximizing the use of available land.
Saber further said that the ultimate objective of the plan is to transform tree planting from an aesthetic element into an essential component of Greater Cairo’s environmental and urban infrastructure. This framework befits the status and historical significance of Egypt’s capital while reflecting the state's vision of building something more sustainable and attractive. It also improves the quality of living conditions.
