Shady Zalta, spokesperson for the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, denied the validity of recent posts circulating on Facebook claiming that the Preparatory School Certificate exams would be standardized nationwide.
He confirmed that the claims are completely untrue, explaining that the Preparatory School Certificate exams are conducted separately in each governorate, in accordance with the current system, with no changes.
The Ministry of Education and Technical Education has also announced the dates for the first monthly exams of the new 2026/2027 academic year for students in the transfer grades across primary, preparatory, and secondary education. The first monthly exams will be held from October 18 to 22, 2026.
The ministry stated that the first monthly exams cover only the material taught from the beginning of the academic year through the end of the first month and measure the intended learning outcomes for that period.
The new academic year began last Saturday. The 2026/2027 academic calendar includes the following dates:
Academic year: September 12, 2026, to June 24, 2027.
Total number of school days: 183.
First-semester exams for transfer grades: January 9–14, 2027.
First-semester exams for the Preparatory School Certificate: January 16–21, 2027.
Mid-year break: January 23–February 4, 2027.
Second semester: February 6–June 24, 2027.
Second-semester exams for transfer grades: May 22–27, 2027.
Second-semester exams for the Preparatory School Certificate: May 29–June 3, 2027.
Second-year “Baccalaureate” exams: June 12–22, 2027.
General Secondary Education Certificate (Thanaweya Amma) exams: June 26–July 21, 2027.
Technical diploma exams: May 29–June 10, 2027.
