The ministers added that the planned increases would range from EGP 5,000 for assistant teachers to EGP 6,000 for senior teachers over the next two fiscal years. Assistant teachers will receive an increase of EGP 2,500 in the next fiscal year and the same amount in fiscal year 2028/2029. The two ministers reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation between the ministries to provide the necessary financial allocations to ensure the smooth operation of the educational process, train and qualify teachers, and eliminate afternoon school shifts.
In response to several questions during the joint press conference, Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, and Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Finance, stressed that coordination and cooperation between the two ministries would continue to improve teachers’ economic conditions. This commitment reflects the state’s appreciation of teachers’ central role in educating future generations, as they are the cornerstone of Egypt’s education system.
Mohamed Abdel Latif emphasized that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi attaches great importance to improving teachers’ economic conditions and consistently directs the implementation of necessary measures to support them and provide suitable working conditions for carrying out their educational mission.
The minister expressed his appreciation for all teachers in Egypt, noting that they continue to fulfill their responsibilities with utmost dedication despite difficult circumstances and challenges, achieving outstanding results that reflect their commitment and hard work. He added that the Ministry of Education is working continuously with the Ministry of Finance to support teachers and improve their economic conditions in a manner commensurate with their status and role in society.
The minister explained that the planned salary increases would be introduced gradually, beginning in July 2027 and continuing over two years. He also reaffirmed the ongoing coordination between the two ministries to ensure the implementation of the announced measures.
The two ministers confirmed that teachers in both general education and Al-Azhar education would receive the announced increases, reflecting the state’s commitment to implementing its announced measures and translating them into practical action.
In response to questions about challenges related to delays in certain financial allocations, the ministers confirmed that a specialized committee would be formed to monitor the financial entitlements of employees across the education system and ensure that payments are disbursed on schedule, thereby helping guarantee that employees receive their financial dues regularly.
