The Egyptian National Railways Authority has made several train ticket booking and payment options available as part of the Ministry of Transport’s plan to improve passenger services, simplify booking procedures, and reduce congestion at ticket counters inside stations.
Booking options include traditional and electronic methods, allowing passengers to choose the most convenient option, whether through railway stations, the internet, mobile applications, self-service ticket machines, electronic payment outlets, or external booking offices.
The Egyptian National Railways Authority has identified the following methods for passengers to obtain train tickets:
Ticket Counters at Stations: Tickets can be purchased directly from booking counters at railway stations across the country.
The Authority’s Official Website: Passengers can book tickets through the official website.
Mobile Application: Passengers can use the Egyptian National Railways application, available through online app stores for smartphones.

Telephone Booking Service: Tickets for air-conditioned and premium trains can be booked by calling 1661 from a mobile phone or 09000661 from a landline. This service allows passengers to book up to 15 days before departure and as late as one hour before the train leaves.
External Booking Offices: The authority has designated 34 offices nationwide to provide ticket booking services outside railway stations.
Self-Service Ticket Machines: TVM machines are available at selected major stations, allowing passengers to complete their ticket bookings automatically.
The facilities announced by the authority extend beyond the availability of multiple booking channels to include various payment methods, providing passengers with greater flexibility.
Available payment methods include:
Cash Payments: Tickets can be paid for in cash at ticket counters and booking offices operated by the authority.
Bank Cards: Ticket counters at major stations accept electronic payments using Visa and Mastercard.
Online Booking: Passengers can pay for tickets through the authority’s official website or mobile application using available electronic payment cards.
Electronic Payment Outlets: Payments can be made in cash or electronically through merchants affiliated with contracted payment companies, depending on the payment methods available at each outlet.
The Egyptian National Railways Authority affirmed that it continues to improve passenger services by expanding booking and payment options and providing multiple alternatives to reduce overcrowding and make tickets easier to obtain.
These measures are part of ongoing efforts to modernize the railway network, which transports millions of passengers annually, and improve service quality to meet travelers’ needs and enhance the efficiency of the transport system.
Passengers are advised to check train schedules, ticket booking availability, and accepted payment methods through their preferred booking channel before completing their ticket purchases.
