Moody’s credit rating agency upgraded Egypt’s sovereign credit rating to B3, maintaining a positive outlook, citing the Egyptian government’s fiscal consolidation efforts and structural reforms.
The agency explained that the positive outlook reflects the “potential for a faster-than-expected reduction in the debt burden and interest payments.” It also noted that the Egyptian government is expected to continue implementing fiscal consolidation measures even after the current International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme ends in December 2026.
