The National Authority for Egyptian Railways announced a reduction in train speeds in some areas of Upper and Lower Egypt as a temporary precautionary measure aimed at maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring passenger safety. The decision comes due to the effects of high temperatures on railway tracks, which cause increased thermal stress and expansion within the rails.
The authority stated that several preventive measures are being implemented to ensure the continued safe operation of train services, including reducing scheduled speeds during midday hours, intensifying field inspections to monitor track conditions around the clock, and preparing maintenance teams for immediate intervention if any issue affecting operational safety is detected.
The authority emphasized its commitment to applying the highest approved safety standards to protect citizens' lives. It noted that these measures are temporary and that operating speeds will return to normal levels once weather conditions improve throughout the day.
The authority asked passengers for their understanding of these measures and apologized for any limited delays affecting some trips, stressing that operational safety always remains its top priority.
