Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, directed that the “Inspector Card” system begin operating on September 1, as part of the ministry’s plan for digital transformation and improving the efficiency of market oversight.
The “Inspector Card” aims to support the work of supply inspectors, document field visits, inspection campaigns, and monitoring results, thereby enhancing the accuracy of follow-up and helping ensure swift action against violations.
The minister also directed that all Ministry of Supply outlets be geographically mapped on digital maps using Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
This step will enable the preparation of an accurate and comprehensive map of existing outlets, identify geographical gaps, monitor the distribution of outlets, and support plans to ensure fair distribution across the governorates.
The directives came during a meeting between the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade and the ministry’s affiliated and relevant bodies to discuss and develop an urgent plan to implement the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, issued during the celebration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday. The directives focused on regulating markets, continuing field monitoring, and expanding government initiatives and sales outlets to ensure the availability of essential goods at prices compatible with the purchasing power of different segments of society.
The meeting reflects the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade’s commitment to translating the presidential directives into urgent and clear executive measures and monitoring their implementation in real time, with each authority responsible for its respective tasks. The ministry is also establishing continuous mechanisms to measure the impact of these measures on the ground, ensuring market stability and the sustainable availability of essential goods to citizens.
The minister emphasized that implementing the presidential directives is among the ministry’s top priorities during the current period. He stressed the need for immediate action across all areas, particularly continuous market monitoring and regulation, intensified field inspections, and effective expansion of government sales outlets to increase supply and achieve the targeted geographical coverage.
