Under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouli, Minister of Labor Hassan Raddad, and Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber, leaders of the Egyptian Chinese University inaugurated on Sunday the activities of the Second National Employment Forum, organized by the Ministry of Labor in cooperation with Cairo Governorate and the Egyptian Chinese University. The event was held on the university’s campus in the Gesr El‑Suez neighborhood in Cairo, with the participation of youth from the Cairo, Giza, Qalyubia, and Sharqia governorates.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Karima Abdel Karim, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Chinese University; Prof. Dr. Rasha El-Khuli, President of the University; and Dr. Essam Ibrahim, Vice Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, along with university officials, representatives of participating entities, businessmen, companies, institutions, and officials from Cairo’s Labor Directorate headed by Fawzi Saber.
The forum is part of Egypt’s national strategy to support youth employment, open new livelihood opportunities, and link education and training to the actual needs of the labor market. It also aims to strengthen partnerships between state institutions, universities, and the private sector, thereby preparing qualified cadres capable of competing and securing decent, sustainable jobs.
Around 80 private sector and investment companies took part, offering a total of 14,486 job opportunities across various specializations and professions, giving young people diverse options suited to their qualifications, experience, and skills, while meeting the needs of productive and service sectors.
Minister Hassan Raddad emphasized that the forum reflects the ministry’s policy of “integrated employment” across governorates with shared economic activity, expanding cooperation between state institutions, universities, and the private sector. He stressed the importance of aligning company needs with youth skills to open wider pathways for genuine employment opportunities.
Minister Raddad urged youth from Cairo, Giza, Qalyubia, and Sharqia to seize the opportunities presented, noting that the Ministry of Labor continues to develop the employment system and extend its services to the widest possible number of young people, in line with directives from the political leadership to provide real, decent jobs, support investment and the private sector, and increase employment and production rates.
During the forum, the minister of labor and Cairo governor delivered employment contracts to several young people, including persons with disabilities, as well as certificates of completion for training programs to graduates, in the presence of university professors.
Minister Raddad said that delivering employment contracts is a practical translation of the state’s efforts to support youth employment and empowerment. He stressed the importance of linking training to labor market needs, ensuring that young people acquire the required skills, enhancing their competitiveness, and securing decent, sustainable jobs. He highlighted that integrating persons with disabilities into the labor market is a fundamental right and a genuine opportunity to benefit from their abilities and talents, underscoring the ministry’s commitment to equal opportunities and their active participation in work and production.
Raddad explained that training is a cornerstone of the employment system, aiming to lead directly to real job opportunities and stable career paths. He emphasized that skills have become the true passport to the labor market. The ministry will continue to cooperate with employers, educational institutions, and training bodies to develop the employment system, provide genuine opportunities for youth, and build a more efficient and stable labor market that supports youth participation in work and production and advances development goals.
For his part, Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber stressed that organizing the forum implements directives from the political leadership to provide job opportunities for youth and support investment and the private sector as key pillars of sustainable development and increased production. He noted that Egypt attaches great importance to youth employment, working to connect them with labor market needs. Employment forums, he said, are vital opportunities for direct communication between youth and employers, enabling them to explore available opportunities across different fields.
Saber added that Cairo Governorate is keen to cooperate with all relevant entities and the private sector to provide more job opportunities for Cairo’s youth, thereby improving living standards and ensuring economic and social stability.
Saber also affirmed that the state gives special attention to persons with disabilities, working to empower and integrate them into society and the labor market. Delivering employment contracts to them reflects the state’s commitment to equal opportunities and recognition of their role as essential partners in the development process.
Governor Saber praised the Ministry of Labor’s role in employment and commended the Egyptian Chinese University for hosting the forum. He emphasized that universities and civil society institutions are key partners for executive bodies in development efforts, through supporting youth, providing training and employment opportunities, and preparing qualified cadres to meet labor market demands.
Prof. Dr. Rasha El‑Kholi, president of the Egyptian Chinese University, affirmed that the forum highlights the importance of joint efforts by state institutions, the private sector, and universities to build a better future for youth. She noted that the university’s role extends beyond academic education to linking higher education outcomes with labor market needs. Organizing the forum on campus reflects strategic integration between the university, the Ministry of Labor, and Cairo Governorate, supporting integrated employment policies and strengthening the university’s academic, technological, and developmental capacities.
El‑Kholi stressed the university’s commitment to providing a comprehensive educational model that combines theoretical knowledge with modern practical skills, inspired by industrial and technological progress, to graduate youth capable of competing in local, regional, and international labor markets. She expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Labor, Cairo Governorate, and all organizers, affirming that providing real opportunities for youth opens doors of hope and builds the nation’s future.
Following the inauguration, the minister of labor, Cairo governor, and university president toured the participating company booths, meeting with job‑seeking youth to monitor application processes and understand their needs, thereby enhancing integration between state institutions, universities, and the private sector and supporting national efforts to create new job opportunities and achieve comprehensive development goals.
