The Youth Love Egypt
(YLE) Foundation took part in the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference
(COP30) in Belém, Brazil. The foundation
participated with a youth delegation, representing the voices of Egyptian and
Arab youth at one of the world’s most prominent environmental forums. The delegation raised key issues such as climate
adaptation and climate-induced displacement.
During their
participation, members of the delegation joined several high-level sessions,
including the launch of recommendations to enhance Nationally Determined
Contributions (NDCs) in partnership with the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA). The delegation also
took part in two events at the Regional Center for Climate Change’s pavilion to
discuss future climate risks and their impacts on North Africa.
The YLE also
delivered an intervention at a session in the Mauritanian pavilion on local
youth climate conferences, reviewing the experiences of Mauritania, Spain,
Kazakhstan, Indonesia, and Ghana in empowering young people and developing
effective platforms for youth engagement.
On the first day of
the second week, the delegation held a press conference focusing on the role of
civil society in building the capacities of African youth in climate action. The delegation, during the presser, underscored the
importance of youth leadership in shaping more equitable and sustainable
policies.
As part of their
outreach efforts, the delegation shared daily updates from the summit through
live sessions and reels across social media platforms, targeting younger and
non-specialist audiences. The videos garnered
more than 250,000 views, helping to raise Arab youth awareness of key
developments in global climate negotiations.
To build youth
skills and keep them informed in real time, the delegation also coordinated and
organized regular meetings for Arab youth. They further hosted
the “Arab Café” session that brought together Arab negotiators and participating
youth to open channels for direct dialogue and share key updates from inside
the negotiation rooms.
The YLE Foundation
stressed that these efforts align with its mission to enhance meaningful youth
participation in international dialogues and empower young people to influence
climate-related decision-making. The delegation’s
involvement contributed to expanding Arab representation at the summit,
showcasing the capabilities of Egyptian youth, and forging new collaboration
opportunities with international and regional organizations.
These efforts form
an important step toward implementing joint projects in adaptation,
capacity-building, and community-based climate action. The
YLE reaffirmed its commitment to representing Egypt’s youth in global forums,
sharing knowledge, and developing innovative programs that support climate
action and a more sustainable future.
