Sports Min., Cairo Gov. inaugurate new sports facilities
Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Ashraf Sobhi and Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber inaugurated several new sports facilities at the Youth Development Center in the Sahel district as part of the Cairo governorate's celebration of the 1056th anniversary of Cairo's National Day. The 1056th National Day also coincides with the anniversary of the June 30 Revolution, and it comes in the framework of the state's plan to develop the infrastructure of youth and sports venues.
The inauguration ceremony featured the opening of a new paddle tennis court at the center, as well as an inspection tour of three multipurpose courts developed using acrylic technology. Additionally, a solar power station with a capacity of 9.44 kilowatts was inaugurated as part of the Ministry of Youth and Sports' efforts to promote the use of clean energy sources.
Moreover, Minister Sobhi and Governor Saber checked on sports activities and visited girls' empowerment camps held under the "Sports for Development" program, along with various other sports activities at the center.
Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber stated during the tour that the inauguration aligns with the state's commitment to empowering youth and creating a developed environment that nurtures their abilities and addresses their needs, especially in light of the advancements the capital is experiencing across various sectors.
Governor Saber further emphasized that the Youth Development Center in the Sahel district has become a valuable asset for the residents, exemplifying the significant progress that Cairo Governorate is making in community services and essential facilities.
In his speech, Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Ashraf Sobhi said that the ministry follows a strategic vision, aiming to develop youth centers in a comprehensive and sustainable manner, transforming them into community service centers across all governorates. This initiative aligns with the directives of the political leadership to empower individuals and enhance the role of youth in various sectors.
Minister Sobhi also said that the introduction of modern technologies, such as solar power stations in youth centers, underscores the state's commitment to green development and resource optimization. He highlighted that the Sahel Center serves as a model for integrated facilities that encompass sports, cultural, social, and environmental development.
The tour also included a visit to the new theater, which can accommodate 350 people. There, a short documentary film about the center was screened, followed by several brief speeches and various artistic performances presented by the center's youth. This event also marked the launch of the initiative "Our Youth Entities in Our Youth Centers," under the slogan "National Sense and Social Responsibility."
The inauguration ceremony was attended by numerous public figures, executives, and officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Cairo Governorate, as well as members of the House of Representatives and Senate and representatives from civil society. The attendees praised the level of development achieved and emphasized the importance of continuing to support youth centers and expanding their activities.
Minister Sobhi and Governor Saber also inspected the sports complex in Shubra and the Shubra Misr Youth Center as part of a comprehensive field assessment of the ministry's services in the capital.
