​Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber met with the Mayor of Windhoek City, the capital of Namibia, Queen Omagano Kamati, and her accompanying delegation as part of his participation in the activities of the third day of the World Urban Forum (WUF12).

During his meeting, Saber emphasized that Egypt, with its African depth and belonging to this ambitious continent, seeks to strengthen fraternal relations with African countries. He added that since President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi assumed the presidency, he has been keen on boosting cooperation relations with all African countries at all levels and in all areas, believing in the active role that African countries play.

Moreover, Saber stated that the Cairo Governorate seeks to enhance cooperative relations with all African cities, particularly in urban development.

Saber also reviewed during the meeting the urban development that Cairo has witnessed over the past ten years in infrastructure, housing, and the elimination of informal settlements.

For her part, the Mayor of Windhoek, Queen Omagano Kamati, confirmed that Egypt has historical ties with Namibia, as Egypt supported Namibia in its quest for independence.

Queen Kamati also pointed out the similarities in the urban challenges faced by both cities and expressed her desire to exchange experiences by enhancing agreements between the two sides.
