Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Eissa, received in his office at the ministry's headquarters in Zamalek, Ambassador András Imre KOVÁCS, Ambassador of Hungary in Cairo, to discuss ways to enhance tourism and archaeological cooperation between Egypt and Hungary.

At the beginning of the meeting, the ambassador was welcomed, and both sides emphasized that the relations between the two states which witnessed fruitful cooperation in many fields, especially tourism and antiquities.

During the meeting, indicators of the incoming tourist movement from Hungary to Egypt during the last period were reviewed, and aspects of cooperation were discussed to attract more tourism.

The meeting touched on the excavation work carried out by the three Hungarian archaeological missions operating in Egypt, and cooperation in the file of recovering antiquities that left the country illegally, in addition to the possibility of cooperation in the field of training, excavation work and museums.

In a related context, Ahmed Issa received, today, Sheikh Malashi Rashid Nabragira, Ambassador of Burundi in Cairo, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss strengthening aspects of cooperation between Egypt and Burundi in the field of tourism.

The attendees also discussed the possibility of organizing an exhibition in Egypt dealing with the work of the Hungarian archaeologist Max Herz, who lived in Egypt during the period between the 19th and 20th centuries, and highlighting his work in the field of archaeological work.

The ambassador also invited the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary to the Minister to visit Hungary and participate in organizing a business forum on tourism, in which a large number of travel and tourism agents will participate.
