Cairo Gov. announces new system to regulate parking attendant position
Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber has
announced that, in response to citizens' requests, the first system to regulate
the parking attendant position will be implemented starting Thursday in Cairo.
Governor Saber
stated that the new system aims to establish an advanced mechanism that
identifies authorized parking attendants for citizens and various entities.
Additionally, it will restore the traditional brass badges that distinguish
official parking attendants.
Moreover, Saber said
the new system obligates parking attendants from companies, which the Cairo
Governorate contracted to rent and manage parking spaces, to wear a uniform
with non-counterfeit markings.
Saber added that the
new uniform is a distinctive light blue jacket, similar to the color of the
Cairo Governorate logo. One side of the jacket displays a badge resembling the
traditional brass badge worn by parking attendants in the past, inscribed with
a code that identifies the governorate, the company's operational area (West,
North, South, or East), and the specific district in which the company is
licensed to operate. The opposite side of the jacket includes a barcode that
can be scanned with a mobile phone to reveal information such as the area and
district code, the location of the parking area contracted by the company, the
company's name, the name of its legal representative, the names of the parking
attendants, their national ID numbers, the company's commercial registration,
the tax card, the parking fees for the first and second hours, and the street
where the parking area is situated. This measure is designed to prevent the
forgery of the barcode and its misuse by unauthorized individuals.
Furthermore, Saber
stated that any citizen can verify the parking attendant's official contract
with the governorate by scanning the code. They can also find out the hourly
parking rate for the location where they park their car. He pointed out that
the hotline number for the Cairo Governorate's operations room has been printed
on the back of the uniform, allowing citizens to report any complaints
regarding authorized parking attendants.
Saber also confirmed
that Cairo is the first governorate to regulate the parking attendant system,
which will initially be implemented in the districts of the western area. This
system will then be gradually expanded to all districts of Cairo, enabling security
authorities to take necessary legal action against individuals who practice as
parking attendants without proper registration with the administrative
authority, in accordance with Law 150 of 2020. Additionally, this regulation
will assist security authorities in identifying parking attendants who are
officially registered at the parking locations licensed by the governorate.
