Cairo
Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber inspected the ongoing work of the development and
resettlement project at the New Madinet Al-Amal “Formerly Ezbet Haggana” in the
Sharq Nasr City district.
During his tour, Saber
said the area's re-planning and development efforts aim to implement a
comprehensive project for citizens to provide them with a decent life as part
of the state's plan to develop informal settlements.
Saber added the new
Madinet Al-Amal, set to be established on an area of 10 acres, will be a model
for the ongoing development of informal settlements across Cairo, as 22 residential
buildings will be constructed within the project, providing all necessary
services and utilities.
Moreover, Saber
stated that relevant authorities talked to citizens to gauge their opinions and
understand their desires before the demolition work, as they could receive
financial compensation or return to the area after the development.
The governor was
accompanied by Deputy Cairo Governor Mona Batrawy, Chief of Sharq Nasr City
District Ahmad Gouda, and several officials of the Cairo governorate.
