Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber held a meeting with Ambassador Atef Salem, the General Coordinator of the World Urban Forum, to follow up on Cairo's preparations for hosting the12th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF12), slated for November 4 to 8 in collaboration with UN-Habitat.

The meeting reviewed proposals for field and tourist visits that will be organized by the Cairo governorate for the guests participating in the forum, including ministers, senior international figures, and participating delegations, as well as proposals for the forum’s activities.

During the meeting, Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber asserted the governorate's commitment to providing all necessary support to present Cairo in the best light that befits Egypt and the efforts the state has achieved over the past years.

It is worth noting that this is the first time in over 20 years that the World Urban Forum returns to the African continent, as the first forum was held in Nairobi in 2001.

The forum is an international conference dedicated to urban issues, organized by the United Nations Human Settlements Program. It is held every two years and is the second most important forum on the United Nations agenda after the Climate Summit.

To register for the twelfth session of the World Urban Forum, visit the official forum website: https://wuf.unhabitat.org/wuf12 before the registration deadline on October 30, 2024.
