Cairo Gov. reviews upcoming WUF12 preparations

Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber held a meeting with Ambassador Atef Salem, the
General Coordinator of the World Urban Forum, to follow up on Cairo's
preparations for hosting the12th
session of the World Urban Forum (WUF12), slated for November 4 to 8 in
collaboration with UN-Habitat.
The meeting was
attended by Dr. Rania Hedaya, the Regional Director of the United Nations Human
Settlements Program, Ahmed Rizk; the Director of the UN-Habitat Office in
Cairo, Yahia Al-Adgham, the Secretary-General of Cairo Governorate, and several
officials of Cairo governorate.
The meeting reviewed
proposals for field and tourist visits that will be organized by the Cairo governorate
for the guests participating in the forum, including ministers, senior
international figures, and participating delegations, as well as proposals for the
forum’s activities.
During the meeting,
Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber asserted the governorate's commitment to
providing all necessary support to present Cairo in the best light that befits
Egypt and the efforts the state has achieved over the past years.
It is worth noting
that this is the first time in over 20 years that the World Urban Forum returns
to the African continent, as the first forum was held in Nairobi in 2001.
The forum is an
international conference dedicated to urban issues, organized by the United
Nations Human Settlements Program. It is held every two years and is the second
most important forum on the United Nations agenda after the Climate Summit.
